As many will be aware, in late January Police commenced an internal consultation process on how we might structure firearms administrative services in the future. Acting Superintendent Mike McIlraith, officer in charge of the Arms Act Service Delivery Group, has recently visited all Police Districts to meet with firearms staff. Staff are now preparing formal feedback on the proposal which will be considered in March. Police are aware that there is some misinformation in some community forums that the consultation process has been abandoned. This is incorrect. The internal process is continuing as planned and any changes resulting from this process will be announced in April with any changes to take effect in the second half of the year.
